Hey there Reader,

“7 Essential Tips for a Life-Changing September—A Personal Reflection”

As I sit here on this warm, final day of August, I can’t help but reflect on the whirlwind of emotions this month has brought. Maybe you, too, have felt the turbulence—busy days, unexpected challenges, and the ever-present pull to reset and start fresh.

Just now, I heard the soft clicking of a grasshopper nearby, a gentle reminder that summer is still with us, even as we prepare for the months ahead. Like you, I’ve had a busy summer—family illnesses, volunteer commitments, and the endless to-do list that somehow never shrinks. And I’ll admit, I haven’t always followed my own advice about setting better boundaries.

Perhaps, like me, you find yourself trying to please others, believing that if you could just manage things better, you’d get more done. But deep down, we both know that’s a misguided belief.

Intellectually, emotionally, and intuitively, I recognize that it’s only by saying “no” more often than “yes” that we can reach a state of extreme self-care—the very state I’m striving to embody.

As September arrives, it’s incredible to realize we’re in the final stretch of the year. Autumn often brings a sense of renewal and a fresh wave of energy. But along with that excitement, there might be a nagging feeling—are you starting to feel the pressure of all that’s left undone?

I know that September can be both exhilarating and overwhelming. You might be looking at the months ahead, feeling a mix of excitement and dread, wondering if this will be the year you finally accomplish what you’ve set out to do, or if you’ll end up feeling overloaded and disappointed once again.

If you’re like many of us in midlife, you may have added responsibilities—caring for children, aging parents, or even grandchildren—layered on top of an already demanding life. Maybe you’re feeling the toll of a high-stress environment, whether at work or in your personal life, and the constant demands have left you exhausted, burnt out, and questioning how you’ll manage it all.

But here’s the truth: This September can be different. You have the power to change the narrative, to stop repeating the same patterns that leave you feeling stressed and unfulfilled. So much of what we experience is shaped by our mindset, and by intentionally changing how you view your situation, you can transform your path forward.

It’s time to stop giving your power away to old, limiting stories that keep you feeling small and stuck.

By re-framing your thoughts and focusing on what’s possible for you, rather than what others are doing, you can create a future that aligns with your true desires.

It may sound challenging, but I’m here to tell you it’s absolutely possible.

Your ability to create the life, health, and mindset you want is within you. But you don’t have to do it alone. It’s okay to seek out support—doing so doesn’t make you weak; it makes you wise. You’re a learner, someone who’s ready to tap into the incredible resources available to help you maximize your potential.

This September, I want you to embrace simplicity, peace, and clarity. Focus on what truly matters to you and build a strong foundation for the rest of the year. To help you get started, I’m offering a special introductory blueprint designed to narrow down the best approach for you to begin taking action toward the life you want.

Here are Seven Tips to Make September Your Best Yet:

  1. Consistency Counts – Be consistent in your actions, behaviors, and approach. Do what you say you’ll do and keep going, even when it’s tough.
  2. Your Growth Matters – Stay focused on your own growth. Examine your internal beliefs and biases. Are they serving you or holding you back?
  3. Do What You Do Best – Focus on your strengths and avoid comparing yourself to others. Remember, you are a unique gift to the world.
  4. Prioritize Wellness – Simplify your wellness plan. Focus on sleep, movement, nourishment, hydration, gratitude, mindfulness, and self-compassion.
  5. Practice Maitri – Treat yourself with the kindness, gentleness, and presence you’d offer a dear friend. This is crucial during difficult times.
  6. Play the Joyful Game – Make it a game to find joy every day. Reward yourself for reaching this goal.
  7. Set and Honor Strong Limits – Don’t take on too much. Set a maximum of five tasks per day, three top goals per week, and one big goal for the month.

3 Thoughts to Ponder

As you think about your own journey, here are three thoughts to ponder:

  1. What would it look like if you prioritized your own needs as much as you prioritize others’?
  2. Where in your life have you been saying “yes” out of obligation rather than true desire?
  3. How might your life change if you embraced the power of “no” and set stronger boundaries?

Let September be the month you reclaim your energy and start living your life for you.
